Windows 8 review Artist Glorie Tortoso

Windows 8 review

I just got windows 8 on a new computer. My 5 year old one sadly had a catastrophic favor. Just one part would have been a third of the cost of buying new. I found a computer cheaper than I could have made. I never even heard that windows 8 was out until a few days ago. This is the first major change since windows 95. I had to get used to windows 95 as well. Its not bad windows mi bad but it tries too hard to be windows surface and ipad. With a few tweeks it could be an awesome operating system.

I like ipads kindles but when I am using a PC its for my artwork not just play or learning. I do like they have an app store and might make a purchase to get some games and educational aps. I do sometimes play with the PC as well but it has some functions you can't get on an ipad. PC has more space and you can use more powerful art programs and business programs on it than a tablet. I can store my art better and access files in ways tablets aren't ready for. It would have been nice if I could search files from their new windows function. It be nice if their still was classic start up. I also don't like the two diff browsers it be neat if I could add favorites in the new start browser like the desk top net browser without a doing a bunch of key strokes. Both browsers need to merge better. I also miss the classic start button.

I am featuring another zazzle.com artist Glorie Tortoso. Glorie was one of the first online friends I made at zazzle. She's been supportive and kind. Glorie Tortoso does both fantasy, enchanting houses as well life portraits. I hope you enjoy her work.

Painting On Paper Bags,Creative Inspiration, Artsy Necklaces

Today I thought I would talk about painting on brown paper bags as I love exploring alternative surfaces to paint on. I'm sharing a video by The Frugal Artist and she shows you how to paint a poppy flower on a paper bag. Easy Peasy!  Feel free to fast forward through the first minute or so as she is telling some jokes at the beginning.  :)

You can visit The Frugal Artist at her site and see that she has all kinds of how-to videos and tutorials to help you create in frugal ways.

Here are a few paintings that I did on brown paper.

In each of these paintings I applied a few coats of Gesso to the back and allowed to dry before painting the front. It helps to make the brown paper surface sturdier and less likely to bubble from the water in the paint. Gesso is pretty inexpensive and you can get it at Michaels Art stores, JoAnn Stores, and on Amazon as well.

Here are more awesome creative pieces to help motivate you to get out your brown paper bags and paints and start creating!
